Doug Brook: Public Policy Expert and Community Advocate
Doug Brook moved to Twin Lakes twelve years ago with his wife, Mariana, from Pacific Grove, California. A visiting professor of public policy at Duke University, Doug contributes deep knowledge in governance and strategic planning.
Before joining the board, Doug played a pivotal role in developing a process that allows residents to provide input on the annual operating budget—ensuring community voices are heard in financial planning. He is also an active member of the Twin Lakes men’s golf group, further enriching community life.
Garry Vogelpohl: Faith Leader and Community Volunteer
Garry Vogelpohl, a retired Lutheran minister, has been a resident of Twin Lakes for three years with his wife, Ruth. As the first minister to serve on the board, Garry brings a unique perspective rooted in service, leadership, and community care.
He has served three parishes throughout his career and remains actively involved both within Twin Lakes and the surrounding community. Garry also contributed to the search and hiring of the campus chaplain, supporting the spiritual well-being of residents.
Connie Poovey: Senior Living Leader with Deep Roots
Connie Poovey offers a rare and valuable perspective, having both worked at and lived in Twin Lakes. Before becoming a resident three years ago with her husband, Bill, Connie spent twenty years on staff.
During her tenure, she led Deacon Pointe Assisted Living, developed and opened Moneta Springs Memory Care, and expanded services for families with special needs members. Her extensive experience in senior living operations and care makes her an indispensable voice on the board.
