Overview

Twin Lakes Community is a neighborhood where longtime friends are as important as long-term care. Where independence is treasured. And where the transition isn’t about what you give up, but what you’ve gained.

It’s all about finding a place where you can expand your horizons, explore your interests and live an intentional life of purpose.  It’s all right here.

For over 40 years, Twin Lakes has delivered a setting that allows people from across the country to live life the way they see fit, to live a life that matters. Among our many outstanding accolades, including a five-star rating from the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services, CARF accreditation, exceptional financial rating and more, what means the most is our residents’ stamp of approval, their pride, peace of mind, and satisfaction in calling Twin Lakes home.

Live, learn and grow at a place where community comes first. Twin Lakes Community. Welcome home.

About Us

Twin Lakes Community was established in 1983 and is designated by the North Carolina Department of Insurance as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Our neighborhoods are filled with people who come from all over and all walks of life. They are here to live with real purpose surrounded by others who are engaged and living a life that matters.

Twin Lakes Community is among a group of CCRCs, also known as Life Plan Communities, throughout the country who are fully accredited by the Commission of Rehabilitation Facilities(CARF). CARF is the only accrediting body for continuing care retirement communities and other types of aging services in the nation. We maintain a Fitch financial rating attained by approximately 5% of all not-for-profit CCRCs throughout the country. We consistently are rated five-star by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Fewer than 10% of skilled nursing facilities in the country hold this distinction. We are one of the largest and longest-established CCRCs in the state.

Our History

Twin Lakes began as a legacy of the family of Wade G. and Agnes Coble. As members of Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Cobles left a bequest of $3.5 million to the church to establish health services for older adults in Alamance County. The local church formed Lutheran Retirement Ministries of Alamance County, NC and began the mission which became Twin Lakes Community. Twin Lakes first opened its doors in March 1983 with Coble Creek Healthcare, three apartment buildings and ten cottages. By all measures our mission has been successful. Twin Lakes has served thousands of residents and family members from throughout the United States and has grown to include a campus of over 650 independent living residents, in addition to our residents in other levels of care.

Our Location

Twin Lakes is centrally located in the heart of North Carolina between the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, Triangle area, and the Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem, Triad area, which places us between the campuses and teaching hospitals of Duke, UNC and Wake Forest Universities. Nationally acclaimed Elon University is minutes from our campus. We are easily accessed by two international airports, Amtrak, and two interstate highways located minutes from our entrance. Twin Lakes residents also enjoy being equidistant between the state’s beautiful mountain and coastal regions.
