Description of the Position : The grounds supervisor will report to the Director of Facilities and be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the natural beauty of the campus. This individual will plan, coordinate and supervise grounds maintenance operations, landscaping and lawns and for the community.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in horticulture science, ornamental horticulture, landscape design, or closely related field or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Three years of horticultural or grounds experience and three years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of and ability to use and maintain materials, related instruments and equipment necessary with position, including mowers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, weed eaters and loaders.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new programs.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Essential Job Duties: Coordinate and oversee landscape installation. Oversee and supervise a wide variety of grounds maintenance, operational, and repair services, including mowing, weed management, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, snow removal and other seasonal and occasional projects related to the grounds and landscaping. Distribute and supervise written work / job orders making specific job statements of materials and labor, including preparing purchase requisitions for supplies and materials for scheduled work. Establish and conduct training programs in safety, horticulture, turf maintenance and equipment operations. Establish mid-to-long range maintenance goals and objectives. Prioritize grounds activities and tasks. Ensure timely task accomplishment. Prepare alternative plans to meet changing conditions. Special projects and tasks as assigned.
1st shift, full time. Monday - Friday.
